This story happened when I went to Singapore to visit friends, not long after spending several years living there. There was me, and my three friends, two Eurasians and a Caucasian, J,G and D. D got a crush on this one guy and she learned that this guy and a bunch of his friends were going camping at Bukit Timah Natural Reserve by the quarry (sort of like Bukit Shahbandar with a gigantic unused pool) and since we were all hanging out she managed to convince us to go and join them. The me, J and G figured ok, we'll go for the day and leave before evening. We packed some food and clothes and went.
I remembered we swam in the quarry, jumping off the cliff especially the boys who were showing off their daringness. The water in the quarry was murky and it was amazing that it never occurred to us that anything dangerous could have been in the waters, for all you know they could be spikes of wood or metal that could have impaled us as we jump in.
By evening we dried off and had a fire started and we did the old cooking by the camp fire thing, I remembered burnt marshmallows... and the guys were wrapped up in their own thing and ignored us girls and I wanted to head back to civilisation. Somewhere at that time, I had a fight with D, I can't remember what it was about anymore but I got fed up with her, stood up and started walking back into the forest to get out of the place. I remembered I just wanted to get far away from her. J and G came after me and I think J managed to get D to join us and just leave the place.
We didn't even have a torchlight to help out make our way out but somehow we did. It was a still night, nothing was moving, no wind, no crickets noise, it was quiet. All of the sudden I smelt something sweet and floral, like the smell came up from behind. We were walking in a single line and I was up front, J was behind me. "J, are you thinking what I'm thinking?" I asked her.
"Yes... G?" and G replied, "Yup."
D asked us, "What are you guys talking about?"
None of us answered and we sped up. We dare not run we just walked faster. D complained we were moving too fast, and we just told her to keep up. The smell got stronger. Dogs were barking in the distance and I was praying we get out of here safe and trying not to imagine anything. I warned the girls to keep looking ahead. D was still bitching when all of the sudden she stopped talking. Can she finally smell it? We didn't ask and just continued.
Finally we managed to get out of the forest and into a clearing, the barking got louder and the four of us walked side by side. We could see street lights in the distance and made me feel slightly better but it was still far from safety. Ahead of us we saw the dogs, probably about a dozen in numbers barking straight at us. Oh crap, and we need to get pass them to get out. I told the girls to just continue walking ahead, I figured we can always fight off the dogs if need be than trying to fight whatever was behind us that's giving off that smell that just seemed to threaten to engulf us.
As we got closer to the dogs, I wondered why they didn't lunge at us, they just stood there barking their heads off. The four of us walked right by them and I realised the dogs weren't interested in us, they were barking whatever was behind us! As soon as we passed the wall of dogs, the smell stopped. The dogs continued their barking and we got onto the main parking area as quickly as we could and onto the road and hailed a taxi and get out of there.
Since we were staying at J's place, we took the precaution of making sure we washed our feet and walked around the house three times before heading indoors. After we got ready for bed we started talking of what happened earlier. D said she at first had no idea what we were talking about when we were in the forest and she wondered why we were so quiet and was moving quite fast, when suddenly she smelt something sweet from behind her was when she finally understood what was happening. J, G and I were impressed, because we always wondered whether Caucasians get affected to, now we know, cos D is a blonde haired blue eyed orang puteh and the four of us almost had our first encounter with what I assume now was a pontianak.

When the Brunei Government acquired a piece of land from Singapore an embassy or referred as a high commission for Commonwealth countries was built along Tanglin Road just outside Orchard area. The first impression people got when they saw the embassy was that it looked like a fortress because of the way it was built and the gates around the compound...
The local Singaporeans, especially the taxi drivers in the old days never like that place, there were stories of them picking up a lonely female passenger or she's carrying a baby in the middle of the night only to find her disappear and leaving behind leaves and stones in the back seat when they reach their destination, usually near an old graveyard which had been relocated, and the passengers would always originate near the location of the current embassy now. I remembered that plot of land has always been empty because people were scared. In a way I think the Singapore government got a good deal as they managed to get rid of that particular plot, but that's my theory.
I remembered after we moved into the residence that was built in the compound next to the embassy building the house had three levels. The ground floor, first floor and the basement. The first floor was cosy as it had only three bedrooms and a small family room. The ground floor was mainly the large living space with two guest rooms on the left and the kitchen, dining rooms on the right of the space. And the stairs leading down to the basement on your way towards the guest rooms. The basement was basically a large open space, with the intention for the place to be used for entertaining as it also have a kitchenette which links up with the main kitchen via a dumb waiter, and the dumb waiter have an intercom. One of the stories was came from the maids, when they're in the main kitchen, they would hear noises coming from the intercom like people talking, and they very well knew there was nobody home at that time, let alone in the basement.
Another story was in the room I stayed in, it was late at night, I was up reading a book, all was quiet. I had large windows on two sides of the room and one side overlooked the embassy, and the other window lead onto the roof of the house, and the curtains were drawn. All of the sudden I heard three sharp knocks coming from the window that overlooked the embassy, I know very well it's impossible for anyone to knock on the window without having a ladder at least. I debated on whether to flip the curtain to look or pretend I didn't hear anything. Curiosity got the better of me and I took a look. All I saw was the pale yellow glow of the street lights outside casting shadows all around. I tried to see if there was a figure or anything to indicate a presence that might have lead to the knocking, a bird at least. Nothing. I went to bed with the lights on that night.
There was one time I had a friend who stayed over, she and I were were really into ghost stories and was really into that whole True Singapore Ghost Stories books that were really popular. At that time, I had positioned the bed between the door and window which faced each other, basically you open the door and you're looking straight out the window, so the bed is in between. It was a double bed so I was sleeping facing the door and my friend was facing the window. That night, half asleep, I remembered vaguely that the door was slightly ajar, and I remembered locking the door and thought oh she must have gone out to get a drink or something and went back to sleep. I woke up again when I felt like as if somebody was blowing across my ear, this cold wind, and I thought she was trying to freak me out, and I wasn't going to give her the satisfaction she woke me up and ignored it and fell back asleep. The next morning I asked her why on earth was she blowing across my ear for when I was sound asleep. She looked at me all quizzically like as if I've gone mad, because as far as she was concerned, she was asleep and didn't wake up at all until morning.
Remember the story of the dark figure that was sitting by the steps at the colonial house in the previous entry? Well, I guess it must have followed us when we moved. This time it was the steps that lead to the pool that was on the other side of the embassy. The security guard was doing his rounds and was just descending the steps that was leading towards the pool when he saw a dark figure sitting on the steps. He thought it was his buddy as there are now two guards on duty at any one time, and approached the figure. As soon as he was next to it, the figure rose, looked at him straight in the face and disappeared. The other security guard came around looking for his buddy when he didn't turn up after a while, only to find him passed out on the steps.
These happen to be the few incidents that was involved when I was staying there, wasn't there for long as my parents got sent of somewhere else and I went back to Brunei to continue my schooling, I don't know if there were anymore incidents regarding the embassy and surroundings, probably are, just haven't heard about it. Wouldn't it be great if we do...

That Old Colonial House BY Rozie
When I was a kid, my parents were diplomats for Brunei and got sent to
Singapore. The first house we stayed in was a colonial place behind
the botanical gardens, (the area doesn't exist anymore thanks to
Singapore ongoing development). It was an old place and big grounds,
pool and a tennis court which other people in the area would borrow to
use. The guest room was at the end of the house, next to the study
where on weekends we have an ustaz who would teach us kids mengaji and
ugama. That part of the house was creepy, it felt creepy. Guests who
have stayed in that room would tell us the next day that somewhere in
the night they felt this heavy weight lying on top of them. It doesn't
happen to everybody but to most people. I myself have taken naps in
that room (kirakan case memberanikan diri), and even though it was
still and quiet and at times I woke up around maghrib, I didn't
experience anything.
Also with this house, one incident was near the tennis court, since
the house was on a hill, you'd have to go down the stone steps behind
the house and pool to get there. One night the security guard was
doing his rounds and there were some lights leading down the steps,
enough to make your way but not enough to light up the place. He saw a
dark figure sitting on one of the steps, he thought maybe one of the
neighbours must've had a late tennis game and was the last one to go
and hadn't gone yet. He approached the figure and as soon as he was an
arms length away, the figure stood up and just flew off.
The house has a separate garage which included two rooms, which were
used as the drivers rest room and where they have their meals and
beds. (My mother only told us about this after we came back to Brunei
many years after), when we were in Singapore, my grandfather passed
away, and somewhere after that, my parents had bought marble batu
nisan to be brought back home to be placed on his grave, in the mean
time the nisan were placed in the garage until we went home for the
holidays and bringing them back with us. She said that when the
drivers had to work overtime at night, they would hear knocking sounds
coming from the garage, and this continued until the nisan were
brought back.
In front of the house was a large tree which seemed to grow
horizontally. Us being kids would use our imagination and I referred
to it as the tree ship and played around the tree in the afternoons a
lot. Little did we know there have been sightings of the white lady at
night playing in the same location, and our bedroom window overlook
that tree and I don't ever recall ever seeing it, but the security
guards does. I would have sleepovers with my friends and we would go
on a watch to see if we could catch a glimpse of the lady, never did.
I think the best story regarding that house has to be this one, the
security post is just outside the gates of the house, the road leading
towards the gate is hilly and curved in. We have about two or three
guards and they take turns each night so there is always one in the
compound. One night, he was at his post, a little guard house with
windows on all sides, enough for one person, when he noticed something
marching up the road. As the something got closer he saw a troop of
WWII soldiers, I can't remember if they were Japanese or not. For
those of you who don't know your history in World War II Singapore was
one of the places that were bloodied by the Japanese occupation and
many soldiers died. And since the area we were staying in was a
colonial era, I wasn't surprised when I heard this story. Anyway, the
guard saw a ghostly troop of soldiers marching up the road, what made
the whole thing freaky was the troops were marching up to the gates of
the house! And since the guard house was just outside of the gates,
the poor security guard had witnessed the whole thing. When the troops
reached the closed gates, they just stopped and stood still...
Waiting... That was that to the story because the security guard
fainted, and he was woken up by one of the drivers in the morning who
came to work and was told the whole story.
After a couple of years, the Government of Brunei acquired a piece of
land where the current embassy now stand. And that's another batch of
story regarding that place, to be continued!

Part 2 The neighbour's House BY Aswana
The thing with bear hill, apart from bnyak babi hutan roaming the area... is that it's very quite. And in our area quite a few houses are still vacant. Especially the ones on the hill right above us. The place was always empty. Once a while the owners will drop by, but they never stayed over just clean up the place and trimming of their grasses.
The other neighbour once witnessed... This neighbour lived just across the empty house. These neighbours always sits outside at night and just chill at their balcony. Then one night they saw inside that house the lady in white roaming freely around the house. At that time they only saw long hair and white clothing. And it's not just once that they saw it. It looks like the place has been claimed by the thing as her place of stay.
Years ago before our house bertambah, my sister was outside downstairs when out of nowhere something white flew above her and went straight to the neighbour's house.
Right now, the house is still vacant. The owner now very very rarely came by their house. It's as if they don't want to visit the house anymore and live there... even during school holidays.

Random Weird Stories BY Aswana
As some of you might know, I stayed in Bear Hill. Perumahan Area. Before we moved in, my mulah nene tangah did some "meliat" on our house. I remember he told us that our house situated in a good position. If cina galar good feng shui lah. Ia ckp jua tempat rumah kmi ani is in between of two rivers... I'm not sure what this means maybe not between I think it's more like between crossings of 2 rivers? But in actuality there's no river plg sini ani... Just tanah biasa... To our naked eye lah. In a diferent world or alam lain (ghaib) it's a different kampung. Just like what my friend 'A' in my serambangun story mentioned. Wherever we go what we see is not what we 'see' at times. That's why we're forbidden to be cabul or sukahati buang barang or buang 'aing'. Sometimes we never know what we might hit or accidentally ter'kacau'.
Anyways enuf about that info. My story is about my house and few encounters by my dad, my tua labuan and sis. And after that a short story about our neighbour's house who rarely stays there at all. Even cuti skulah pun jarang2.
Part 1. Random weird Story
Rumah kami ani ampit sdh beguris. Beguris cara salah ampit jua sal ada org kawan my dad ani yg setau jadi bomoh. Adakah patut ceramin pacah di tanam ke empat penjuru. And ampit jua beguris secara islam (by mulah nene tangah which is the first before we moved in). Because of bnyk ilmu bercampur, jadinya nda berkat lah rumah. And before rumah bertambah, my parents decided to panggil org pandai (a young boy) to cleanse the house.
When he came over, what he did was to baca ayat quran first before doing the ceremony thing. I dont know what happen tho but all of us were not allowed to enter the living room. You see our place used to have a lot of bad beings dropping by to say hello. If any of you read my stories I was always not in bear hill. Mostly I stayed at my nene's place or my aunts, or hostel... It was only on special occassions like Hari raya or cuti skool panjang that I sleepover at bear hill. Now i remain permanently rooted here in Bear Hill. Well i think hopefully... This boy had to do a ceremonial in order to ward of evil from the house by mixing salt and black pepper together and scatter these on all four corners (4 penjuru rumah) at exactly 12 midnight. While scattering it the boy said we need to say a few surahs which he recited to my dad and my usu boy.
I dont want to tell you in detail of that night simply because tonight while writing this story I dont feel good mentioning it. All I can say is this, the boy said the thing was sent for my mom. Apparently someone wants my mom to suffer. And he said the thing got sharp horns on their heads. I think those things are still around lurking waiting for an opportunity to come back in the house area. I haven't been back to this house for quite a long time only recently late last year that I was back staying here. And I was kinda surprised caused everyday ayat quran was playing on the radio here by my mom. I think it's good that it was played.
Anyways, scrap that story. In actuality I wasn't gonna tell you about it, just happens to get slightly carried away. Ok back to the house story, this happens to my tua labuan. Back when the days where the house still looks "perumahan' like (meaning alum betambah), we used to get frequent visits from our Sabah and Labuan relatives. One of them was my Tua labuan.
Tua labuan sleeps in the living room area at that time. So the next day she told my mom a story. An encounter of spiritual being with big body she said. When they were sleeping they were visited by different beings. When she told this story she said they were more like encircled by them. Tua labuan said the people were largely build. They didn't disturb my Tua labuan and her husband sleeping. they just sits there and circling them as if watching them. I don't quite remember what really happened tho. All I remember was when she told my mom the story she was a lil bit freaked out.
Then there's this story about my dad. My dad always brings back home stuffs he found. There's tis one stuff he found while fishing with his friends. It was a stick. He found a stick stood by itself on the sea of waves. He thought the stick was long. Something made him to pick it up so he picked it up and to his surprised the stick was really short and it was actually standing on the surface of the sea. When my dad went to take the stick, the sea was almost on his waist line. My dad s 5'11. The stick is only 10cm long. He took it home. And ask my late nene tangah to look at it. And my late nene tangah said the stick actually have healing properties and it's a good one. It can help cure anything to do with black sickness. It belonged to a raja hitam or something the name. There's one time he found a lil bronze shoe the size of a baby's feet. He found it somewhere and apparently threw it away coz he thought it was nothing special. Then one day me and my lil bro was in the living room just goofing around when we both noticed the small child like shoe. We both touch it and found it cute. The shoe was nicely placed along with my mom's miniature collections of old iron, houses, telephones, etc. So we didn;t find it weird coz we thought that was part of the deco. When my dad saw the shoe, he was shocked and asked who put it there. We all said we don't know and the thing was already there when we saw it. Apparently it was gift for my dad by our invisible neighbour, a muslim jinn who happens to own his own mosque in our area. Late nene tangah told us that he dislike us burning near his area as it affects his mosque. And he doesn't like loud noises and ask us the family to comply with the rules. Once a while was okay but not all the time. See my mom likes to karaoke in the afternoon. So the 'imam' dislike it coz it was too noisy.
Anyways enuf about that info. My story is about my house and few encounters by my dad, my tua labuan and sis. And after that a short story about our neighbour's house who rarely stays there at all. Even cuti skulah pun jarang2.

The Office BY Aswana
Actually I have a lot of stories to tell.. But due to limited time {Busy saja jua eh…} But I have to disappoint goosebump yet again this time as it's not the story of dragon. I'll tell it next week insya allah jua tu kalau ku ingat... Need to clarify something with an old friend first about it since she knew more in depth of the story - asal usulnya lah… hehehe Today I'll tell u a story of last year punya incident… I call this "The Office" =p
Lets name the place where I work as 'The Office'. A three storey building located at a used-to-be-government residential area. The building kira berumur la ah sudah… selalu saja tutup karan… Anyways, the office ani macam-macam la sudah ceritanya. One of the guys, our office neighbour had frequent encounters with the lady in white, of which he jokingly called as Celine Dion (lawa kali hantunya mun begalar CD). Al-maklumlah selalu saja ia balik menyubuh siapkan krajanya. I'm not gonna tell the story of him with his encounters as I have little knowledge of it. All I know is he frequently saw CD back in his early days in that office. However I will tell you the story of my first encounter of it since my almost 2 years working at The Office.
Usually I stayed pretty late at work, trying to finish up pending lah. Selalunya I was always alone. But that night I decided to went home a bit early around 7-ish… [Dont ask me what time I went home from office on normal days. Yg penting akhir la…] The reason - I'm carpooling with my friend who's also working next door. So ada dangan this time. Slalu sorang2…
Anyways, she peeked in the office and said "I'm heading to the toilet after that we go home la". I said, "Ok. Give me few minutes to save my work and packing up" and hurriedly making last minute editing and saving my work. After I've done my last minute "work", I packed up, switched off all that needed switching off and locked the office door. While locking the door, at the corner of my eye, I thought I saw my friend went in through an empty office room. It strikes me odd pulang cause behapa tah jua lagi ia kan masuk lam office kosong atu. Gelap lagi nda belampung. I didn't really see her, just part of her hair.
The empty office room was only one room away from my office. And at that time, not sure why the empty office door berbuka. Always it was locked. So I waited for her to come out of the room, I stood infront of my office door for her while eating my cookies coz I was hungry. I grew impatient and curious cause batah bah ia didalam. Nya lapas ke jamban tarus balik nya, ani behapa tah ia kn masuk lam office kosong atu lagi. I thought to myself since she just started working here in this building, maybe she wanted to explore. Tapi nda kn explore gelap2. Then it strike me maybe she didn't know where to switch on the lights? So I decided to aga her and help. Just as I was about to go to the empty room, suddenly I hear my friend's voice calling out to me asking where I am. And her voice didn't come from the dark empty room but somewhere else. So I answered back by asking "Erm… Where are you?" She replied "I'm waiting for you here outside at the stairs…" And she was right. There she is outside at the stairs with her phone on her ear maybe was trying to dial my number.
Quick Info:
1. My friend has long hair and she always let it loose.
2. On our floor there's only 3 active companies renting the offices, the rest are empty/rarely used.
3. To go to the toilet you need to go all the way to the end of the hall of that floor.
4. To leave our level you need to go out through a glass security door and by stairs (saja masukkan detail ani untuk memanjangkan info...)
So i quickly joined her outside on the stairs and asked her this " Are we the only ones on this floor masa ni?"
"Yes" She said, "Why?"
So I told her what I just saw. And she told me that she had the instinct of calling out to me coz she doesn't feel right. And she also told me that while passing the hallway on her way out from the toilet she passed the empty room and the aura doesn't seems right. So she quickly go out to the stairs and waited for me saja.
Imagine what would happen to me if I did enter the empty room. What would I see? Or worse what could've happen to me? [Jauh palis…..]
After that incident, I still went back home pretty late though. I didn't encounter any weird happenings after that. Or maybe ada kali just that I chose to ignore or is too engrossed with work.

Pontianak II BY MzVista
Ok, next story, happened in Panaga flat also. This time, two of my brothers saw 'It'. I can't remember what year that was.(1992-1993) Lets continue, in that time, me, my sister and parent went to Miri ( i think on Friday kali). My late grandmother took care of my brothers. About 2-3pm, my grandmother slept with my two brothers in a room (I have 4 brothers). The other two playing in the living room. Then suddenly, they heard 'someone', a she, said. "mana anakku?....mana anakku?..." its sound like soft n scary spoken..so creepy. And then, they look outside the window near veranda and saw Pontianak flying around and around and looking for something ( maybe her child). When my brothers saw it, the Pontianak looked at them and they was so scared and ran into the room where my late grandmother was sleep. They told my late grandmother what they had saw and baca ayat kerusi. That was so scary.
Flat panaga seria is one of the scariest place in KB. It is really2 haunted. Many other neighbours also saw the Pontianak and heard creepy voice. Today, the Flat is empty and soon kena robohkan.
I'm sorry if my english is not good..haha..i hope u enjoy reading my true scary story. Hehe. Next time I will continue to write another true ghost story. =D

Pontianak BY MzVista
Salam hi.This is my first time telling story here in this blog.I never write in a blog before..haha =D
Ok, I have a lot of ghost story to tell you guys. (not that lots..hahaha)
I saw a first ghost in 1993, I guessed, when i was in primary 2. I was lived in Panaga Flat near SR. Panaga Seria. In that area, there ia alot of Pokok Aru along the side of the road. I remembered that time was sahur time during Ramadhan month (In dawn time). After my family finished eat for sahur, all my siblings went to our room (dulu kmi tdo satu bilik saja semua..mklumlah damit2 lakat..haha). All together 6 siblings inside a room. We all slept on the floor that time.My mat was near my parent bed. (My parent pun tdo sebilik with us). In that room, there was two door, first one is where we enter in and out of the room and the second one is where there ia a small veranda with Petak2 Wall (u know how a Flat look like). My head membelakangi that second door.
This is the scary part. My parent still outside the room waiting for Subuh Prayer and all my siblings is slept after ate. Durng that time, I can't sleep well. Then suddenly, I heard someone, a girl's voice, screaming for help. "tolong, tolong!!" I was so shocked and kept on listening the screaming from louder voice until it become smaller and smaller. Then after that, I heard 'something' laughing very2 loud. "hihi..hihi..hihi" coming form the second door near veranda. I didn't know why I became so brave and looked back and guess what I saw? I saw Pontianak with long hair, white dress, pale and keep on laughing (scary).(Naik bulu roma tarus). I was really scared and shocked that time and I covered myself with my blanket. (masatu berpaluh berabis ni..ketakutan..haha..kajar2 kali ah hehe). Then I became braved (aku andng pembrani jua kdg2 haha..) and ran out from the room and went to my parent. I didn't tell them what i just saw. I told them that I can't sleep, padahal nampak hantu.haha
The next day, I told my siblings what had happen and they said, they didn't heard anything (mestilah because semua tidur mati dah..haha).
I just wondering why there ia a ghost during Ramadhan month. Maybe Roh-roh kali yang menakuti. Until this time, I still didn't know. Maybe Jin, roh, or...
